What Is Tabata?

Tabata is a type of HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout. It's a great way to burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. The typical tabata class last 25-35 minutes consisting of 5-7 5-min sets each made up of 8 rounds of 20 seconds working as hard as you can followed by 10 seconds of rest. These 8 rounds are followed by 1 min of active rest. An example of a tabata workout:
